Warren Maximoff had always been a kind of looming figure in Wanda Kaplan’s life. As soon as she’d been aware of super-heroes, she’d been drawn to the man in scarlet. It hadn’t taken long for her room to be adorned with every poster of the mutant. It wasn’t lust, but it was fascination. She hunted down every fact, every bit of information she could find. Soon Wanda found herself hunting information on the super-heroes and villains around him, which had lead to a full on love of super-heroes. Her father had considered it a little strange, but ultimately deemed it a harmless hobby. Of course, it had made her something of an outcast amongst her so-called peers, which had lead to the bullying. And the fighting.
If was the fighting that lead her to Warren Maximoff. She’d been hanging out around the Avengers mansion, not wanting to go home while her nose was still bleeding and her face looked like bruised fruit. And then he’d been there, and he’d been so nice to her. If Wanda had been straight, she’d have called it love.
Actually, it was love, but it wasn’t that kind of love.
Wanda couldn’t remember being so happy in her life than she had been during that period between when she met Warren Maximoff and when her powers had first manifested.
