Becca nibbled delicately on the chewy candy Jeff had presented her, rolling it around on her tongue. “It’s spicy.”
“But way better than cinnamon candy, right?” Jeff asked enthusiastically, taking one of the candies and popping it into his mouth.
“Mm-hm.” Becca continued to chew thoughtfully. “Alright. You keep me supplied with these, and I’ll forgive you for running away from home.”
Jeff’s smile seemed to light up the room, and his ears, which had been drooping, perked up. “Thank you!” He wrapped his arms around his sister and held her tightly. “Is Pop still mad?”
“God yes. But he’ll get over it.”
