Title: Young Titans Part V: World on Fire
Author:
dorksidefiker
Fandom: Amalgam (kind of)
Table/Prompt: Table 4 | 2. Baby don’t you know I’m gonna set your world on fire.
Character/Pairing: William Rook, Teddy Logan, Cassie Kord, Bart Shepard
Rating: PG
Summary: Part Five of my Young Titans series.
Authors Notes/Disclaimer: Y’know, this is kind of a weird area. The parent characters for this lot aren’t mine, but I’m the one putting them together like this… hrm.
Cassie pulled her legs up underneath her and watched as Teddy practically floated out of the room. William was in the corner, being broody, which was weird in and of itself. Normally, if William wasn’t actually doing something, he would be hiding in his room. Meditating. Whatever. They’d both been acting so weird since Teddy had woken up. She didn’t have a clue what had happened before Brother Zatara had pulled Teddy out of William’s mind, but William was being almost social, and Teddy was being mostly quiet.
William jumped a little as Teddy started singing in the hall, and Cassie rolled her eyes as Kaja Da suggested the best way to silence the shape-shifter. “I am not going to cut his tongue out,” Cassie whispered, though clearly not quietly enough because William was giving her a funny look. You just knew things were weird when a half demon thought you were being strange.

The water dripping off the ice was warm as it splashed against the back of his head. He’d managed to break most of one of the icy pillars, letting him reach through to touch William. The ice statues had caught fire about the time William actually came close enough to the bars for Teddy to touch him. Teddy had his hand around William’s wrist, and William was actually blushing.
“Billy, if you don’t get out of here, I am going to pull you through these bars.”
William blinked. “I can’t. You can‘t.”
“I’m a super-hero. I can do anything.”

“Are they being weird, or is it just me?” Bart asked.
“They’re being weird,” Elijah agreed, being in concurrence with Bart perhaps for the first time ever.
“They should just sleep together already. Wanna play Left 4 Dead?”
“I don’t even wanna think about it. Dibs on Bill.”

“This,” Katie said to Red Vision, “is so weird. Bart and Eli are getting along, Cassie’s still talking to herself, and William and Teddy are just…” She shook her head. Red Vision said nothing, instead staring out the window and into the distance. She found her gaze following his, eyes narrowed. Something had been bothering ever since William and Teddy had woken up, like an itching at the back of her head. Much as she tried to ignore it, she was attuned to the forced of order and chaos, and something was seriously out of whack.
She was going to call her sister. Later. Eventually. When things were a bit less busy.
“You see something?” Katie asked.
[Yes. But it is still outside the human visual range.]
“But it’s there. Where’s Will-”
Sadly, while the pillar of fire was spectacular as it spread out from water and up to the sky, it wasn’t unexpected.
“Go get William,” Katie said flatly as both the sea and sky turned the same shade as a fading bruise. “I think his father’s coming for a visit.”
