“He’s sweet,” May said, ruffling Johnny’s hair. “He can stay.”
Johnny grinned triumphantly at Peter, who just rolled his eyes. “I thought I wasn’t allowed to have pets?” he asked.
“Well, if you promise to pick up after him…” May drawled, waving a hand airily as she picked up the dirty plates and headed into the kitchen.
“So much cooler than my parents,” Johnny said firmly.
