Summary: As the children of the Kazekage prepare for their Chuunin Exam, their mother looks back.
Author's Notes: A sequel to the Match series.
Hinata leaned against the balcony rail, looking down into the Chuunin Exam arena. The first time she’d tried to make Chuunin, she hadn’t even made it this far. Looking back, she wasn’t surprised. She hadn’t been ready to be Chuunin.
But she was confident that her children were.
From her vantage point, she could see the Genin teams waiting for their matches. She caught a flash of red hair as her daughter took off her hood, fanning her carefully painted face as she sweated in Konoha’s humid weather.
“She will do well,” Gaara murmured in Hinata’s ear.
Hinata didn’t jump, but she did turn her head a bit. “High praise, Kazekage-sama.”
Gaara snorted. “She is the best of the Genin, and is a puppet master in her own right. Kankuro has been training her extensively for this. Not even her brothers can defeat her in combat.”
“That’s no guarantee that she’ll make Chuunin.”
“She will.”
