Lance dug his fingers in to the sides of the earthen tunnel, stopping is slide before he could reach the bottom, which he was sure was filled with spikes or piranhas or something. Things like this trap always ended in something nasty like that. Luke was clinging to Lance’s ankle, legs braced on the sides of the tunnel so the claws on his feet could dig in. Unfortunately, the werewolf was heavy, and the earth was soft and slimy, crumbling even as he tried to find purchase and nearly making Lance lose his grip as well. “Dammit, what have you been eating? You weigh a ton!”
Luke scrabbled with his feet, finally managing to dig in more firmly. “Told you it was a trap,” he growled.
“Why don’t vampires ever set up anywhere nice?” Lance whined. “Like Cancun. Or the Virgin Islands.” He started climbing back up the chute. “But nooo, it’s always spooky, cold castles in the middle of haunted forests, or creepy, cold swept peeks-”
“Less talking, more climbing. We need to find Frank.”
