Dexter stared at the little glowing dots scattered across the world map and tried to feel anything other than numbness. Each glowing spot represented a sighting of Apocalypse and – more importantly, in Dexter’s mind – his ‘Lightbringer’. They were cutting a swath of destruction across South America , leaving death and chaos in their wake.
He was aware of his mother coming in, draping an arm over the back of his chair.
“How did you deal with this kind of thing?” he asked, tilting his head back and pushing his glasses up into his hair. “What am I supposed to do, Mom?”
Gert looked down at her son, her own glasses perched on the end of her nose. “You’re going to get the rest of the way out of that armor, wash yourself, and sleep,” she said. “You reek.”
“Mom-”
“This is the first time you’ve been in the Tower for more than ten minutes in a week. And if you don’t, I’m calling your Uncle Vic and Aunt Molly.”
