Summary: The problem with falling to your death is that it gives you way too much time to think.
Author's Notes: I own nothing.
The problem with falling to your death was that it gave you a lot of time to think about the impending sudden, liquefying stop that would come at the end.
Victor was fighting very hard to keep calm. Lots of his friends and teammates could fly. Any one of them could rescue him from certain death by falling off a helicarrier. But as the ground grew steadily closer, it occurred to him that they might all be busy in the fight raging above. They might not have even noticed that he was falling.
“Oh God I’m gonna die…”
“Hold on, I’ve got you!”
Suddenly, Victor’s rapid decent halted as an arm wrapped around his waist. He gasped as the air was knocked out of him, eyes still fixed on the ground still blessedly far below. “Oh God.”
“You okay?”
“Uh-huh,” Victor said weakly. “It’s very high.” He turned his head and just stared at the face of the boy who had saved him. “Uh…”
“I’m Wiccan. Hang on, we’re going back up.”
