“I loved you,” Victor told Billy as he loaded the last of his things into a box and started taping it up. “God, I thought I’d never feel anything as intense as that ever. What happened?”
Billy sucked on his teeth, his eyes not meeting Victor’s. “I don’t know. We both changed, I guess.”
“Do you feel relieved about this?”
Billy nodded, finally looking Victor in the eyes. “You too.”
“I used to love you. My heart should be breaking… but it’s not, and that’s what’s really killing me.”
“I know. Me too.”
