Physique chuckled, a sound that Terry normally found pleasant (but not in this particular instance), and said, “It’s so cute the way you keep trying to avoid Thor Girl.”
Terry scowled in the way of all young men (that is to say, completely unimpressively) and poked at his lunch. “It’s not that funny,” he said sourly, shooting a furtive look towards the blonde girl eating across the mess hall.
“Okay,” Physique conceded, “maybe it isn’t funny to you right now, but some day, when you’re over it, you’ll look back on all this and laugh.” She pushed a little square of cake at Terry in a peace offering. “Just to show I’m not completely heartless.” Terry harrumphed loudly, spearing the cake with his fork.
