Burn Down the World
Title: Burn Down the World
Author:
dorksidefiker
Fandom: X-Men
Table/Prompt: Table 3/39. Burn
Character/Pairing: Megan/Nezhno
Rating: PG
Word Count: 231
Summary: In which we catch up with a few more X-Men.
Authors Notes/Disclaimer: I own nothing. Part 21 of Bitter Homecoming.
“Wakanda burns,” Megan announced, her voice hollow. Nezhno slowly opened one eye to look at the Queen of Limbo, then unfolded himself from his seat and ambled over to peer into her scrying glass.
She had not been exaggerating. Flames engulfed the once shining capital city while people fled before the advancing Skrulls. A wave of Megan’s hand showed that it was much the same throughout the rest of the country he had once called his home. The temple of the Panther God collapsed before Nezhno’s eyes, killing man y of those who had thought to find sanctuary there.
And all the while, the Skrulls were digging up the sacred mountain. Not chunks of it -- the whole thing.
“Good.”
Megan’s fingers brushed his arm, and Nezhno felt a small shiver run through him at the brief contact. “They’re your people.”
Nezhno reached up to touch the patch that covered his empty eye socket. The material felt cool and smooth beneath his fingers, and he relished in the sensation. “They never thought so. Let it all burn to the ground. Pity is wasted on them.”
