The woman known to the people of Earth as Sarah Altman chose New York City , ultimately, because this city would be so very easy to hide in. It had the single largest super human population on the whole planet, so there she and the prince would be two more faces in the crowd. And if it became necessary, the Avengers were based in the city.
They would not help her for her sake, but for the son of a friend, perhaps they could be moved to lend aid.
Perhaps she should have gone to them when she first arrived, but they had long been enemies -- and allies of the Empire’s greatest enemy outside of the Kree – and she was so very far from home. She had traveled long and far to ensure that the prince would be safe from the Empress’s enemies. She would not risk that by going near those trouble magnets.
