It was the smell that stuck with Jet, even as the faces of his family and friends started to fade into the mists of old memories. The smell of wood burning, cloth burning, of flesh…
There were nights where he work up with the stench in his nose and mouth, and he was sure he was there again, back at that night, running while his whole world burned down around him.
Usually, what he was really smelling was someone burning food on the campfire. Still, he could never seem to sleep again after that. He’d just get up and plot.
