Silently, Terry pushed the box of tissues across his desk. Abby grabbed three and noisily blew her nose, tears streaming down her face. “I’ turned into someone I d-don’t think I like,” she said, her voice rough. “I-” Her words faltered, and she held her mask tightly in her hands for a what seemed like a long time before throwing it against the wall with all her strength.
Terry stood up, coming around the desk and crouching in front of Abby, pushing down the urge to take the form of her fear, to take her form, covered in blood. He took her hands in his and held them tightly, letting her cry.
