Terry leaned heavily on the sink, staring into the reflection that looked back at him. Dark circles, from a lack of sleep made it look like someone had punched him in the face. The florescent lights gave him a more ghastly pallor than usual, and his black hair wasn’t so much artfully tousled as a genuine mess. He looked like a freshly risen cadaver.
Which, admittedly, he kind of was.
Terry turned on the faucet, letting the water run until it was hot, then splashed his face in an effort to wake himself up.
Not that being awake was really the problem. He could manage awake just fine. It was sleep that eluded him. He couldn’t seem to stay down for more than a few minutes before finding himself awake again.
“God dammit,” he muttered, glaring at his reflection. It just glared back at him.
