Alex Summers watched the lightning crash down on the other side of the window, making the whole building rattle and shake. Crouched in front of the window, Daemon twitched.
“Hey. Kid.”
The boy who claimed to be his son went eerily still, then turned. Thunder rattled the windows again as the lightning crashed. Alex gripped the door frame, then forced a grin. “C’mon, I got movies and beer. We’re gonna bond.”
Daemon slipped from his perch, warily following Alex to the TV room. Unfortunately, between Alex leaving to find Daemon and coming back, a few of the younger girls attending the Xavier school had invaded and put on The Little Mermaid.
Alex sighed, turning to Daemon to suggest another bonding activity, but the demon-boy was already perching on the couch between two girls, watching the animated film with undisguised fascination.
