Keith Guthrie stood on top of the little hill that hadn’t been there six minutes ago, wiggling his brown toes in the freshly churned earth. “I’m thinking of calling myself ‘Quake’, or something like that.” He looked down at his father. “What do you think?”
Jay mulled it over, flapping his wings slowly to keep himself cool in the humid summer heat. “Do you want to go to Xavier’s?”
Keith ambled down the hill, hands in his pockets. “It’s where mutants go. Raia’s there. Most of my cousins are there.”
“Your mother and I gave Raia the same choice. You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” Jay reached out and gave his son’s shoulder a squeeze. “It’s your life.”
Keith shrugged lazily. “Xavier’s seems like as good a place as any.”
