Alani, Josh noted, looked different when she was asleep. He wasn’t sure how to describe it, but it was clear. She wiggled closer, her eyes still tightly shut, and he pressed a kiss to the top of her head.
She smelled nice. Like strawberries and coconuts, or at least as close to strawberries and coconuts as her favorite brand of shampoo could manage.
Suddenly, Alani draped an arm across Josh’s chest and opened one eye. “Do you ever sleep?” she asked with a tired yawn. “Or do you just stay up all night?”
