Vance struggled for a moment with the fact that strangling this kid was the wrong thing to do, no matter how tempting the thought of wrapping his hands around Julian’s neck was. “Just pick up the paperclip. Nothing else. This is an exercise in fine control, not raw power.”
Julian muttered something that sounded suspiciously like ‘tool’ under his breath and levitated the paperclip up to eye level.
“Now unfold it without breaking it.”
Julian rolled his eyes dramatically and very nearly embedded it in Vance’s forehead. He caught it, but only just barely. “Focus, kid.”
“I am focusing!” Julian said, grinding his teeth.
