"Bright One?"
Karolina looked up from the field of stars she had been watching move under her feet to look at Xavin, who was looking decidedly princely and masculine. As she watched, the Skrull’s features softened, becoming the girl Karolina was falling in love with. Karolina gave her a shy smile, which Xavin returned.
"You are not dressed yet," Xavin noticed. "Did you need some help?"
"What? No, I was just…" Karolina sighed. "I’m not sure I’m ready to meet them. What if they don’t like me?"
"They are your people, Beloved," Xavin said.
"Yeah, but I’ve never even heard of them until a few weeks ago. I can barely say ‘thank you’ in their language." Karolina gnawed on her lower lip. "I don’t know anything about them."
"In my experience," Xavin told her fiancée after taking a few moments to pick her words, "people are much the same no matter where they are from. If they are beings of any sense, they will love you every bit as much as I do."
Karolina’s aura turned decidedly pink, swirling around her like food coloring dropped into water. "You sure?"
"Trust me."
