Xavin watched Karolina try to blow out the candles. She made an annoyed noise as the last few flickering flames refused to go out. They would be extinguished soon enough, but still their presence annoyed the blonde.
Something about the swiftly extinguished flames made Xavin feel particularly melancholy. Compared to the Skulls, the Majesdane people were so short lived. Time would pass so quickly for Karolina.
Karolina nudged Xavin’s leg with her foot. “You’ve got that look on your face,” she said, handing Xavin a piece of cake.
“Which one? According to you, I have several looks that you seem to disapprove of.”
