“I will never leave you,” Xavin whispered. Karolina sighed in her sleep and rolled away, drawing one leg up to her chest. Xavin just watched her for a while, smiling slightly (even though she didn’t realize it). Karolina would contort herself into the oddest positions when she slept, which often meant that Xavin would be woken up by the odd foot, elbow, or knee.
Karolina’s other leg stretched out, pushing the covers away. Xavin pulled them back up, tucking them around her lover. “I will always be yours,” she said in Majesdane (something that she occasionally did, just because she could, and because it would make Karolina blush on occasion), “O Brightest Star in the Heavens.” She smoothed Karolina’s hair away from her face before laying back down in an attempt to catch a bit more sleep.
Ten minutes later, Xavin was awakened again by a knee jammed into her stomach.
