“Is this a date?” Jean-Paul asked cautiously. Bobby didn’t answer, just poking at the rather pathetic salad that had come with his meal. “I won’t take your pity.” The speedster started to get up.
“This isn’t about pity,” Bobby said, rising with Jean-Paul. “I liked hanging out with you before everything. I would like to hang out with you more. This is about me hanging out with my friend, if that’s alright with you.”
Jean-Paul glared at Bobby before sinking back into the seat. “Fine. Friends, then. So long as this isn’t some pity thing.”
“If there’s one thing I don’t feel for you,” Bobby assured him, “it’s pity.”
