Nate tapped the baseball bat against the frame of his bed, chin jutting out like a battering ram as he peered into the darkness beneath. “I know you’re down there,” he said flatly. “Come out quietly and you’ll get to leave here alive and in one piece.”
Something that was probably very slimy and had more teeth than the Osmond family hissed and growled, writhing in the dark. “I’ll grind your bones for my bread, human child…”
“That line only works for giants. Do you really have no idea who I am?” Nate asked. “I’m Nate Altman-Kaplan, and I am far more frightening than you.”
