The Cure
Title: The Cure
Author:
dorksidefiker
Fandom: Generator Rex
Table/Prompt: Table 13/4. Cure
Character/Pairing: Dr. Holiday, Six, Beverly Holiday
Rating: PG
Word Count: 287
Summary: She knows that she’s close to finding a cure.
Authors Notes/Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Holiday found herself staring at data that was refusing to make any kind of real sense. She rested her chin on her knuckles and closed her eyes, inhaling through her nose. She could hear Bobo doing something she knew he shouldn’t be doing, but she didn’t really care. Holiday spun her chair around and stood up, stuffing her hands into the pockets of her lamp coat, turning her feet to a familiar path, out of the lab and in to the Petting Zoo. Unlike Rex, she didn’t take the so called scenic rout, and so went unmolested by the EVOs that lived there. The inmates seemed willing to leave her along, though she still went armed. Finally, she stood in the very hard of the Petting Zoo, where the most dangerous EVOs were kept. EVOs like her sister.
“Hey, Bev.”
She watched the spidery thing her sister had become skitter back to the back of her cell, glaring at her with the eyes of an animal.
“We’re making progress. I will get you out of here.”
She’d had so much hope, when they’d first found Rex. When he hadn’t been able to cure her, it had been… heartbreaking. “I know I haven’t visited you as much…”
Her sister hissed, retreating further back, climbing the wall and up into a corner, and behind her Holliday heard the soft clearing of a throat. Holiday didn’t have to look. “You’re scaring her, Six.”
Six didn’t answer. Holiday didn’t expect one anyway.
