Summary: Kaldur doesn’t trust it when things are quiet.

Kaldur’ahm stood just outside the range of the portal, completely still as he listened to the sounds of Mount Justice as a feeling of unease settled around him. All he could hear was the humming of machinery. No Robin and his computers. No Kid Flash and his constant chatter and the whoosh of air filling the space he had just vacated. No Artemis arguing with Kid Flash. Those absences, he could have understood. The three had lives that often kept them away from the base.
But there was also no Megan, who filled the air with sound even when she was alone, and no Superboy clomping around in his slightly too large boots as if he could stamp his presence in to the world.
Kaldur dropped into a combat stance, weapons in his hands before he even thought about it. Something had happened; he didn’t know what, but he would find out.
