Summary: It really should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody that Chase’s boss was completely evil. Sadly, this does not mean that Chase gets to leave the workforce.

“I just want to say, for the record,” Victor said, “that I knew this was gonna end badly.”
“Yeah, yeah, my boss was evil,” Chase sighed. “Figures, you know?”
“Yup.”
“Think Nico’s gonna make me get another job?” the blond asked mournfully.
“Ooooh yeah,” Victor replied, just barely managing to keep a grin off his face.
“Damn,” Chase muttered, slouching in his chair.
“You wanna keep all those pretty cars of yours running, you need gas. Gas costs money. You can either turn to super villainy, become somebody’s kept boy, or you can work.” Victor licked his lips and made a thoughtful noise. “You could try joining the Avengers,” he added. “They get one hell of a stipend and it’s pretty clear they’re not picky about who they take these days.”
“How much?” Chase asked.
“Thousand bucks a week, I heard once.”
