deHalle consoled herself with the idea that the very public execution of Prince Xavin would be almost as satisfying as bringing the Dean girl back to stand trial. vaRikk was waiting for her when she reached the bridge, his massive arms folded over his chest. He gave her a pleased look and asked, “Is… Karolina… secured?” His lips twitched briefly into a very small smile that sent a shiver down deHalle’s spine.
“Yes, sir.”
vaDanti slunk off the bridge, looking mildly distressed. deHalle dismissed the look; her brother was no soldier, and clearly didn’t have the stomach for this sort of thing.
“We can always come back,” vaRikk noted as they left Earth behind.
“Yes, sir,” deHalle agreed.
