Leslie threaded her fingers together and pursed her lips. “Did you just barter our daughter to the Skrulls?” she asked, clearly amused.
“They’ll get themselves killed long before they can collect,” Frank said, though it sounded more like he was reassuring himself more than his wife. :And look what I got out of the deal!” he added brightly.
“They’re… lasers, dear.”:
Frank gave Leslie a crestfallen look. “Victor would appreciate them,” he muttered.
“Did you barter away any more family members for your new toys, dear? If you do, could you start with your grandmother?” Leslie looked out the window, catching sight of Karolina floating in the pool, fingers making little ripples in the pool as the inflatable raft drifted hither and yon.
“You almost sound offended.
“They’re Skrulls.”
‘You never had problems with them before. More than the usual, I mean.”
“You’ve never made one my future son-in-law before.”
“If it comes to that, we can always kill him.”
