Megan looked at Billy and flinched, dropping her eyes and suddenly unable to meet the blue furred mutant’s golden gaze. She heard him sigh heavily as he began fiddling with his holo-watch. “When I say ‘Do not touch that’,” he drawled, “what exactly are you hearing?”
Megan’s lower lip thrust out as she looked up at Billy. He looked right back, completely unmoved. “Can’t you just teleport us back?” she asked.
“Megan, I don’t even know where we are!” he snapped, tail lashing back and forth like an angry cat as he threw his hands into the air in frustration. “I have no idea how far from home we are, and I can’t teleport all that far, or blind!” He fumbled around his pockets for his cell phone. When he finally found it, the machine was dark and quiet, and refused to turn on. “Check your phone.”
“I don’t have it with me,” Megan admitted.
“Doesn’t matter,” he said tersely. “Would have gotten fried like mine anyway.” He pressed a thick finger to something on his belt buckle, which emitted a soft whine.
“Billy-”
“Don’t talk to me,” Billy said sharply. “The Avengers will be on their way. They’ll get us home. So just… don’t talk to me, okay?”
“But-”
“Unless there is someone sneaking up on me, I don’t care.”
