Karolina’s accent was adorable. She had a lisp when she tried to speak Majesdani, which was rather unfortunate, as Majesdani was a tonal language. Xavin didn’t have the heart to tell her how bad she was at her people’s language. He did his best to teach his betrothed the right words, said the right way, but Xavin knew Karolina would never progress very far. Thankfully, the Majesdane elders were willing to talk to her in English, as much as they were capable of, anyway. Admittedly, their English was better than her Majesdani, but Earth languages were some of the simplest in the universe.

“I stink at this.”

Xavin combed his fingers through Karolina’s hair, but didn’t bother to contradict her.
