Author:
dorksidefiker
Fandom: Bleach
Characters: Byakuya, Rukia
Prompt: Table 3/49. Sacrifice
Word Count: 242
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Some things must be sacrificed, for the sake of honor.
Warnings: None.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Byakuya watched Rukia as she was brought forward to be sacrificed for the sake of honor. He honestly had not thought that things would come to this, but it could not be helped. The order had come down and Rukia had to die. For the honor of the Soul Society. For the honor of his family.
Because of that stupid human boy.
Rukia did not cry out to him, did not beg to be saved. It was almost like she welcomed death.
Byakuya did not know what he would have done if she had begged. Most likely, he would have done exactly what he was doing now; failing his wife, failing his sister, saving his honor, keeping his vow to his parents. Without honor, he had nothing left.
His thoughts turned to Renji, another sacrifice made on the alter of honor. He might live, but it was doubtful. He thought of Yorichi, who gave up her honor for no cause that he had ever found. After all that had happened with the rokia, he would no doubt be charged with hunting her down too.
Another sacrifice.
It seemed to Byakuya that his life was becoming an endless stream of sacrifices.
