Teddy rested his forearms on the counter, his chin sitting on top of his hands as he looked at Victor, a slight smile pulling at his lips. “Are you always this cautious?” he asked.

“Am I being cautious?” Victor replied. He blinked, then shook his head. “Okay,” he admitted, “maybe I’m being a little careful. I don’t want to rush in to anything.”

“Vic, it’s coffee. Besides, you’ve known me for years.”

Victor folded his arms over his chest. “Sounds like a good reason to be cautious to me.”

Teddy laughed softly. “Do you really think you need to protect yourself from me?” he asked.

“Maybe I’m protecting me from myself?” the other man suggested. “I’m not exactly known for having the best taste in men.”

“I think I’m insulted,” Teddy teased. “You can make it up to me by saying yes to coffee.”
