Santo crouched beside where Victor was sunbathing, hands resting on his knees as he looked down at the other boy. Victor pulled his shades down, giving Santo a look of withering disdain before pushing before pushing the shades back up his nose.
“How many times,” Santo asked, “am I gonna have to apologize?”
“Santo, you will never be sorry enough,” Victor replied. “E-ver.”
“That guy was completely evil!” Santo protested.
“And yet we are the ones who got banned from the club for life,” Victor mused. “Funny how that happens when you put someone through a couple of walls.”
“The place was lame anyway,” Santo insisted. “All that artsy-fartsy frou-frou crap.”
Victor’s shades slid down his nose again, a cold look in his green eyes. “I like that ‘artsy fartsy frou-frou crap’,” he reminded Santo, “and I don’t recall inviting you along in the first place.”
“It’s a good thing I did come, though. Who knows what that guy woulda done to you!”
“I can take care of myself. Now stop blocking my sunlight and go bug someone else.”
