There was a cup of hot chocolate sitting on the counter, far enough away from Athena to make it clear that it wasn’t hers. The Greek goddess lowered her newspaper just enough to look at Amadeus over the edge. The paper went back up and she stretched out a hand, pushing the cup closer to Amadeus as he walked by. She didn’t ask him how the quest for Kirby had gone, and he didn’t volunteer the information. He sat down, his face carefully composed, and picked up the still warm cup.
Amadeus just held it in his hands for a while, looking into the dark liquid like he could read his future in it.
He drank it all in one gulp and went to find Hercules.
