Character/Pairing: Rowena Mox-Xanathos, Nyx Xanathos
Rating: PG
Word Count: 216
Summary: Rowena is none too impressed with her daughter in law.
Authors Notes/Disclaimer: Mine!
The glass of wine sat untouched in front of Rowena, dark and vaguely ominous as she studied her son and his wife at the head table. Maybe she was reading too much in to things; maybe she was a perfectly nice girl, and she would be happy together with Agamemnon for the rest of their lives. But Rowena had her doubts, and she was rarely wrong about her gut feelings. The woman left her cold. She worried about her status, how her important friends would see her.
“Mom…” Nyx leaned over, whispering to her. “Try to look happy. Take a drink.” He nodded to the glass in front of her.
Rowena cocked her head to one side, a ghost of a smile flitting across her face. “I never,” she intoned dramatically, “drink wine.” This earned a chorus of groans from all her kin within ear shot, drawing Agamemnon’s attention away from his bride, one eyebrow lifting.
“Mom’s being a nerd again!” Nyx explained.
Rowena watched a scowl flash across her daughter-in-law’s face, quickly replaced by a stiff smile.
