“Close your eyes, sweetheart.”
Agamemnon looked up at his mother, then at the man who sprawled on the floor, face black and blue, hands broken, shattered. Mommy was not happy, and Auggie knew that anyone who made Mommy that unhappy was in for a world of pain. Especially anyone who hunted werewolves for their pelts.
Quietly, Auggie turned his back on the man to check on Xanthe. Were he a more empathic child, perhaps he would have felt sorry for the man. Instead, he wondered if Mommy was going to skin the man, or just kill him horribly.
