Julian looked at the thick, cream colored envelope that had come in the mail and scowled, throwing it down on the kitchen table. “God damn it.”
He was still scowling at the envelope with Victor came into the mansion’s kitchen, humming obnoxiously. He stretched out a hand, pulling the envelope across the table to him. “Oh. They finally made it official.”
Julian grunted sourly. “I’m not going,” he said.
Victor tapped the wedding invitation against his palm. “I’m sorry, Julian, but life goes on. You should send flowers or something, just to show you’re not bitter.”
Julian stood up and ripped the envelope out of Victor’s hand. He tossed it into the garbage with a flick of his wrist and pulled Victor across the table, planting a rough kiss on his lips. “Feel like distracting me, Vic?”
“Julian, you’re about ten seconds away from a fascinating new black eye.”
“C’mon, we’re still the friends we were, aren’t we, Vic?” Julian caressed the tendons of Victor’s neck lightly with his fingers. “A little fun won’t hurt.”
“Julian, as your friend, I’m telling you to let go.”
“Are we talking about you and me, or me and Sofia?” Julian asked, still not letting go.
“Both.”
