The gangly blond boy from Xaviers was sitting across the lunch table from Wanda, a pair of headphones clamped over his jug handle like ears. He was watching her and picking at his food, humming just loudly enough for her to hear him, but too quietly for her to make out the tune. It didn’t take long for her to snap irritably at the boy, demanding to know what he found so damn interesting.
Silently, he stripped off his headphones and offered them to Wanda. She was about to tell him just where he could shove them when she caught the familiar refrain the headphones were belting out (in as much as the small things could belt something out). She raised an eyebrow at the blonde, who just smiled.
Wanda held one of the ear pieces up to her ear.
lack coat black shoes black hat, Cadillac. The boy’s a time bomb!
“You,” she said, a hint of wonder creeping into her voice, “listen to Rancid?”
Blondie nodded cheerfully. “Can’t listen to country and western all the time.”
