“It’s quiet. Too quiet,” Pietro muttered ominously, his eyes darting around the room.
“And now,” Lance sighed, “you’ve jinxed it. Thanks loads, hummingbird brain. Any second now, that crazy sister of yours is going to try blowing something up or turning Toad into a badger.”
A tense, wary silence fell on the Brotherhood house and the two waited for Lance’s prediction to come true.
“Where is Wanda?” Lance asked slowly.
“Last I saw her,” Pietro said, “she stole the space heater and said she wasn’t coming out until the spring thaw.”
