Victor’s fist banged into the wall beside Chase’s head. He heard Old Lace circling behind him, and didn’t care. Chase met his gaze levelly, hands on his hips. “What?”
“This. Us. It’s not-” He struggled for the words to explain his frustration. He’d thought he could live with a sex-type relationship with no emotions attached. And he had, for a while. But he couldn’t just go on like that.
“There isn’t an ‘us’,” Chase said. “This isn’t an ‘us’ kind of thing.”
Behind Victor, Old Lace growled.
“I can’t do that anymore. There’s no such thing as ‘just sex’.”
“You sound like a girl.”
“And you sound like a robot!” Victor shouted back. “You can’t just shut off your emotions! It doesn’t work that way! People don’t work that way!”
“It’s not like we’re even having sex.”
“Maybe if you’re using the Clinton definition, we aren’t.”
Chase’s hand came up, tangling in Victor’s dark hair. He pulled, jerking the cyborg’s head back while his other hand moved down, grabbing his crotch. “Is that what this is about? You want me to fuck you? You want to fuck me, Vic?”
“I want you to feel something.”
