Victor watched Gert lean against Chase, her eyes closing a moment, and he tramped down on the emotion that tried to well up inside him. He wasn’t going to be jealous. Gert was his friend, even if Chase was an ass, so he was going to be happy they had each other.
It was that simple. Just be happy for them.
He could do happy. Happy was simple.
So what if he didn’t have someone who trusted him enough to lean on?
Victor was jarred out of his thoughts by Molly jumping on his back. “I’ve got Pixie Sticks!” she announced.
