“It’s not that I can’t help you,” Bobby admitted, nibbling on a chocolate bar as he watched Victor. “It’s that I won’t. Making babies out of thin air is the kind of thing that worries people, and I don’t like having them wonder if I’m going to end up like Grandma Wanda.”
“You’ve done this kind of thing before,” Victor said insistently.
“Yeah. And have you met Hal? There is something seriously wrong with that kid.” He shook his head. “The only reason I didn’t get into deep shit over that was because I was five. I don’t have that excuse anymore, Mr. Mancha. I’m sorry.”
