“And this,” Victor said slowly, “was Xavin’s idea?”
Karolina nodded bright, clearly pleased. “She’s trying to move past her old cultural conditioning.”
“That,” Chase muttered with a snicker, “or it’s a trap.”
Karolina punched the boy in the shoulder. “The important thing is that she’s trying.”
“Well,” Victor mused, “if Xavin’s willing to try, I guess I can too.”
