“So,” Jeanne-Marie asked, “when do I finally get to meet this mysterious boyfriend of yours?”
Jean-Paul snorted at the clear but unspoken doubts as to the existence of said boyfriend. “God willing, during the winter break. And I’m absolutely certain you will love Peter.”
“And then he shall fall madly in love with me and we shall run away together.”
Jean-Paul snorted again. “Find your own boyfriend.”
“You first, Twinkle Toes.”
“I’ll see you over the break, Evil Pixie,” Jean-Paul said with a small smile.
“Be good.”
“You too.”
The twins hung up at the same time.
“You know,” Peter said, wrapping his arms around Jean-Paul and nuzzling one of his delicately pointed ears, “you could have just put me on the phone.”
“Ah, but then I would be denied the look on her face,” Jean-Paul said with a wicked grin as he leaned back against his boyfriend and turned his head for a kiss. “And that would spoil all my fun. I intend to savor that look. Maybe write poems about it.”
“You are strange,” Peter pointed out, kissing Jean-Paul back.
