Title: Prelude
Fandom: Runaways
Characters: Xavin
Prompt: 6. First Meeting
Word Count: 254
Rating: G
Summary: He really doesn’t know what to expect.
Author's Notes: I own nothing.
Xavin paced around the hologram, watching it flicker slightly as he studied his berothed. She was, he knew, pretty by human standards, with long blonde hair and delicate features. At least, she had been two years ago, when the image had been taken while she was attending a formal event the humans had thrown in honor of her parents.
He wondered how the humans could be so totally unaware of what they harbored in their midst.
"Karolina…" he murmured, sounding the name out like he was tasting it.
It wasn’t the only image Xavin had of his betrothed, but it was the most recent. The earliest had actually come from her parents, while the others had been obtained by Skrull agents operating on Earth.
The most frustrating part was that these images told him nothing about Karolina herself. He had known all his life that this was to be his bride, but he was going in blind. Would he like her? Would she like him?
His mother had once explained that these questions he had didn’t matter. He would have a lifetime to get to know her. Their future together was set in stone.
Mother had been a consummate politician. Xavin had learned from her the things that now served him well in his efforts to make peace with Majesdane.
He just hoped she was right.
