Karolina could hear musicians checking their instruments. She couldn’t see them because Xavin had made her wear a blindfold, but she could certainly hear them. “Can I take this off yet?” she sighed.
“Soon, beloved,” Xavin said before calling out something in Skrullos. Someone else answered back in the same, then added, “Almost ready.” in English.
A few moments later, the opening strains of Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds purred out of the speakers, and Xavin took off the blindfold.
“Oh my God! Xavin, how-?”
“Some time ago,” Xavin said, clearly trying not to look as pleased with herself as she was and failing miserably, “someone in the Empire had the idea of taking over Earth by disguising soldiers as popular Earth musicians. It didn’t work out, but I think that was for the best.”
“This is so cool.”
