“The air… smells,” Karolina said quietly to Xavin. “It’s not bad, but it’s… weird.” She inhaled slowly as she walked down the gangplank. She shrank behind Xavin a little, noting the unfriendly looks of the Skrull honor guard. “They’re all staring at me.”
“Of course they are,” Xavin murmured back. “You are magnificent.” The Skrull offered Karolina his arm. “Most of them have never seen a Majesdane outside of combat. This is as new to them as it is to you.”
Karolina licked her lips, thrust her shoulders back, and continued down the ramp.
