It was an ugly thing, the motorcycle he had pieced together from scavenged bits. He’d assembled it himself. It was his project.
He’d always wanted a bike. To him, it meant freedom. The ability to go where he pleased, when he pleased.
He had it now.
The last bit had been a gift from Logan , left beside the Franken-bike. The older mutant had been the only one at the mansion who knew about it. He’d helped Jono with some of the fiddly bits.
Jono straddled the bike, feeling it rumble under him like a small earthquake. He gripped the handles and took off, out of the mansion and down the road.
