A butterfly settled on Penance’s hair, and Jono watched it flap its wings lazily. She remained still as a statue, and Jono held a slice of apple in front of her. She almost took his finger off, but still she managed not to dislodge the insect.
Jono inspected the finger he had almost lost to the girl. Life is risk he reminded himself.
